Social Media Distancing | setto | 2020-11-17 16:20:00 | We see each other less, but when we do it's on the same screen we work on. | /images/posts/digital-detox.jpg | ramblings |

Is it just me or is internet a desert right now?
The mainstream networks are void of actual content: everybody is either mimicking something or avoiding any sort of relevance because "it just creates conflicts". The most exciting stuff on there is a new selfie filter. Telegram has been empty for a few months. There are 4 channels in my subscription list that have been updated in the past months. Mastodon makes me wonder how diversity can be so uniform. YouTube is a hell hole of sponsored content…. Matrix is well… just empty of people… Reddit is a giant loop of gifs that are better on every loop. IRC is nice! Well, you need to have a bug first.
The larger audience is seemingly just happy with the way things are… The way things are being a hop-loop: insta-facebook-youtube-insta-facebook-youtube…
But what am I happy with? The same thing! My loop just revolves around different platforms.
Because I really do my best to social-media distance myself from the usual suspects. And there are plenty of alternatives:
- Pixelfed{: target="_blank"} replaces Insta
- Mastodon{: target="_blank"} replaces Twitter
- Matrix{: target="_blank"} replaces Whatsapp
- PeerTube replace YouTube
You are hereby invited to my PeerTube channel!
